Francesco Tristano premieres debut Sony Classical album, Piano Circle Songs, in Germany and London
28/8/2017
Francesco Tristano will premiere his debut Sony Classical album and project, Piano Circle Songs, at Berlin’s Funkhaus on 6 September followed by the UK premiere at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre on 20 September.
Piano Circle Songs featuring Chilly Gonzales is a selection of newly composed works for solo piano. This is Tristano’s first solo piano recording in five years and he explains the new direction of the album: “I love the beats, I love the constant impulse. The music on Piano Circle Songs is the opposite. It’s very intimate, a melodic way of composing that has been largely inspired by having children. They made me explore a gentler phase of what I could do at the piano, in terms of writing.”
Tristano wanted to capture the intimacy of the music in both the recording and the post-production phases by purposefully placing microphones close to the instrument to give the listener the sensation of having their ear inside the piano.
Two tracks from the now album have now been released, click here to see the latest track, Grey Light, from the upcoming album.
The first track Circle Song can be seen here and was premiered by Intro in Germany, El Periódico in Spain and FIP Radio in France.
There will be a recital and orchestral version of this project, and upcoming highlights include: Rheingau Musik Festival, Alte Oper Frankfurt, Funkhaus Berlin, Orchestre National de Lille, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Cité de la Musique, La Seine Musicale Paris and Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg.
