Avishai Cohen orchestral project continues its European success
10/10/2016
Avishai Cohen’s unique and impressive ‘An Evening with Avishai Cohen’ for Symphonic orchestra, continues its success across Europe, with two sold out shows in Brussels and Gent on 14 and 15 October.
The programme includes settings of Cohen’s own contemporary jazz and world music compositions, orchestrated traditional Hebrew and Ladino songs, and selected classical works, while the arrangements span set-ups for solo, trio and full orchestra. Orchestrations are by New York’s Grammy Award-winning Robert Sadin who has worked closely with Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Sting and whose work has been performed by some of the world’s top orchestras including the New York Philharmonic and the Boston and Chicago symphony orchestras.
Concerts have been broadcast by ARTE, Swedish TV and Spanish TV, and SONY will be releasing an international album of the project in 2017. As well as traditional orchestral concertgoers, the project also appeals to new, younger audiences and those interested in jazz.
