Attacca Quartet to virtually premiere new film “Plan & Elevation”
16/11/2020
Juilliard alumni Attacca Quartet are set to have the virtual World premiere of their film “Plan & Elevation” created in partnership with filmmaker Tristan Cook, on 17 November. The film is set and based on Caroline Shaw’s composition of the same name, which was also featured on Attacca’s latest album “Orange”, which the Quartet received a Grammy award in the category best chamber music/small ensemble.
Commissioned by Julliard School of Music and recorded at Dumbarton Oaks, the film will be premiered as part of an online event, also featuring short films created by Juilliard student composers. In recent months, Tristan, Caroline and members of the Attacca Quartet have been leading mentoring sessions for a select group of Juilliard students, focussing on and exploring the relationship between composition, performance and filmmaking. The films created by the students will also be premiered in this virtual concert, which will be broadcasted free on YouTube.
Tune in here to the virtual event on 17 November at 17:00 EST / 22:00 GMT — What Is a Garden? | An Evening of Short Film Premieres .
This season Attacca Quartet have continued their exploration of the digital format, taking part and producing a number of filmed and streamed concerts for Banff Centre International String Quartet Festival, Duke Performances, Austin Chamber Music Center, as well as Szczecin Philharmonic Orchestra.
