29/4/2019
Attacca Quartet and Pulitzer prize-winning composer Caroline Shaw have released their new album, “Orange”, available on Nonesuch Records & New Amsterdam. Performed by Attacca Quartet, the album features six of Shaw’s pieces for string quartet and is the first full-length album to exclusively feature works by Shaw.
In the build-up to the release of “Orange”, Attacca Quartet performed music from the album live at The Greene Space, New York, as part of the venue’s 10-year anniversary. Attacca’s performance was live-streamed and can be seen again in this video.
Since its release, the album has surged straight to the top of the iTunes Classical Charts and received critical acclaim from various media platforms, including BBC Radio 3, Noisey and Pitchfork.
Orange is available for Purchase now at iTunes, Bandcamp, and the Nonesuch Store and can be streamed at Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital service providers.
Praised by The Strad for encompassing “maturity beyond its members’ years,” the internationally acclaimed Attacca Quartet is one of the most dynamic ensembles of their generation. As stated by The Washington Post “Mastery like this is scarce enough in quartets that have played together for decades”. Recent and upcoming performance highlights include: their debut in the New York Philharmonic’s Nightcap series; Beethoven String Quartet cycles at University of Buffalo and New York and Trinity Lutheran Church (Manhattan); returns to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and Red Bank Chamber Music Society; as well international performances in Japan, South America, Italy and the UK.
